About this Role
Marninwarntikura Fitzroy Women's Resource Centre is expanding its national 1800RESPECT program and actively recruiting for Specialist Counsellor roles, offering both full-time and part-time permanent contracts
These positions are fully remote, providing work-from-home flexibility for dedicated professionals across Australia
The Specialist Counsellor will deliver highly specialized trauma counseling services through telephone and online channels, supporting individuals impacted by domestic, family, sexual assault, and workplace sexual harassment
Key responsibilities include providing single-session therapeutic counseling, psychoeducation, referrals, and ongoing support for complex cases, all while establishing caller safety and rapport within a new national framework based on best practice principles
Candidates must hold a tertiary degree (minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a relevant field, coupled with at least 3 years of specialist counseling experience, particularly in domestic and family violence and sexual assault support
Professional membership with ACA, PACFA, AASW, or AHPRA is essential, along with solid IT skills for digital platforms
The role also requires a commitment to working with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and may involve supporting First Responder teams.
